Important Information

February Live Well, Work Well

February is Heart Month, sponsored by the American Heart Association. This month, focus on reducing your stress, which can improve your heart health and lower your risk of heart disease.

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death for infants between 1 month and 12 months of age. Though the cause of SIDS is often unknown, one contributing factor can be unsafe sleep.

February Benefit BUZZ
Company budgets have been squeezed in recent years, and employees are feeling the pressure in the form of pay cuts, heavier workloads, higher health care premiums and reduced 401(k) matches.

The EEOC recently approved a draft final regulation, which states that an employment practice that adversely impacts older workers is discriminatory unless the practice is justified by a reasonable factor other than age.

State based Health Insurance Exchange

Myriad Benefits supports the Keep It In Idaho coalition because we believe strongly that the right thing for Idaho is that our Legislature pass a bill to create a state Health Insurance Exchange. This will allow Idaho to develop an exchange that makes sense for individuals and employers in our state. Idaho has some of the lowest insurance rates in the country and we support a platform that continues to develop more cost effective options for consumers

IRS Issues Additional Guidance on W-2 Reporting
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requires employers to report the aggregate cost of employer-sponsored group health coverage on employees' Forms W-2. The purpose of the reporting requirement is to inform employees about hte cost of their health coverage.  The reporting does not cause employees' health coverage to become taxable to them.

The Benefits of Hiring an Employee Benefits Broker

Saving money on employee benefits is imperative in today’s economy. The cost of providing benefits is rising significantly, while employees consistently seek more and more from their benefits packages. Many employers struggle to balance employee needs with their own capabilities and bottom lines. Helping you meet these divergent needs is our specialty.
